I always read gear reviews, but they can be frustrating. How many times have you read a glowing review written by someone who states they’ve not used the item in the backcountry yet? At best, they read “item is well constructed and I think I will like it” or “item appears to be made of shoddy construction.” Other times, it’s “I don’t like the color” or “I bought this as a gift for someone and they seem to like it” or – my personal *favorite* – “I haven’t received it yet but I keep getting emails asking me to leave a review.”

I decided to write reviews of the gear I use. Some of this stuff I’ve used for years; that’s given me lots of time to experiment with the gear. I hope this is helpful.
