I ran Badger Mountain on Friday. I had an 8-mile run scheduled for Saturday, but with the weekend The Hubs and I had laid out, I wanted to get the run out of the way so my workout wouldn’t interrupt our plans. I haven’t run Badger in about a month; I think running it once a month is enough to gauge my fitness progress. Continue reading

Planning out the Summer
I’d devoted so much effort the preparing for the Richland Half Marathon and the St Patrick’s Day 10K that I hadn’t spent any time looking ahead. I have several other races already on the calendar scattered throughout the summer and early fall, but I hadn’t set up a training schedule. Continue reading
10K – PR!
Today’s 10K was a personal record for me. It was my first 10K race, so, um, no matter what the result, it would have been a PR.
I didn’t have a specific goal for this race. That isn’t really a good idea. I think most coaches will tell you it’s a terrible idea. Why put a race on your calendar if you don’t know why you’re running it? As I mentioned in my last post, doing a 10K two weeks after a half marathon was not a great idea. It isn’t enough time to recover from the HM and start training for the 10K. Continue reading
Sometimes I am My Own Worst Enemy
I can be frightfully inconsistent over a season. From weeks when I don’t miss a single or shorten a single workout and my nutrition is pretty dialed in, to weeks when I skip a few workouts, or I half-ass workouts, and I can’t seem to stop eating EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, they’re all a part of me. Continue reading
Does Gardening Count as a Workout?
Although it was breezy, Saturday was a great day to get some yard work done. The Hubs tilled the main garden bed. I weeded most of our front walkway, cleaned up the sedum in that walkway, weeded part of another bed, transplanted a bay laurel shrub, and put beet, kohlrabi, pea, lettuce, and spinach seeds in the ground. Continue reading
I Guess I Get Two Rest Days This Week
I haven’t come up with a formal training schedule to replace the half-marathon training. My next event is a 10K on March 12th. I have a 5K in April, and then Bloomsday is the first Sunday in May. Although this is a very run-focused spring, I’m trying not lose my edge (if one can call it that) in triathlon. Continue reading
My First Half-Marathon is in the Books!
Done!
I was going a little nuts the last few days. I ate waaaaay too much. On the plus side, it wasn’t junk food, but it was still too much. I need to learn how to survive tapers. Continue reading
T Minus 35 Hours
/me taps foot impatiently
Last night was a four-mile, “easy” run. I definitely had the “easy” part down! As it turns out, my easy pace is a little slower than my endurance pace. 🙄 https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1062569766 Continue reading
I am NOT Good at Tapering
And this really isn’t tapering!
I’m trying to take it easy this week, hoping to have rested & ready legs come Saturday morning. Lots of sleep. Sticking to my run workouts and walking, nothing else. No swimming at lunch. No bike commutes. No getting up early to swim Thursday morning.
I am not handling this well. I’m genuinely antsy. Fidgety – more so than usual.
Part of this is probably because my 11-mile run went so well that I’m in a hurry to run that half-marathon and get it over with. The rest of it? I am incredible impatient. <insert .gif of me, hands on hips, tapping foot, looking annoyed> Continue reading
There Will Be No Intervals Tonight
Today was supposed to be an interval workout. My legs are still sore from running Badger on Saturday. (!!!) I hoped the mile warm-up would be enough to convince them to bend to my will. My hopes were dashed.
